Clubs & Associations
This is a list of clubs and associations that Pete has been involved with at some point since 1985, unfortunatley not all these organisations still exist. Being an Accountant in practice he has also conducted audits for numerous local associations whilst many were paid audits, being associations the charges were historically often discounted along with a number that we provided on a probono basis.

Hancock Brothers Hockey Club Inc.
In 1979, Pete, unable to make a school football team, decided to give hockey a go. It was during training that some of the A grade Hancock players asked “Who would like to play a 2nd game each weekend?”
Well, that was the start of Pete’s involvement with Hancock Brothers Hockey Club Inc.
Commencing club E grade in 1979 and moving through the junior age based grades, D, C and B, Pete was ready to move to senior hockey, along with many good mates who had formed the nucleus of both the Hancock team and St Edmund’s College school team.
With Hancock’s A Grade premiers success and many well-respected players forming the A grade side; Pavitt, Blundell, Dobbie, Woodford, Fuller, Green, Bull, Eleison, Burns, Kinnane, and Moore, and Dancer as player and coach. Pete was privileged to be part of the reserve grade squad, and fortunate to be amongst and learn from players such as Swift, Fowler, Anderson, Fullelove, and Tierney. With many young talents coming through the club, Pete moved to the A2 competition where he continued to play up to 2023, with many great memories and friendships made through those years.
It was 1985 when Pete commenced as the club treasurer in conjunction with Paul Bannister, and again had the opportunity to learn from Steve Moore – Secretary, Nev Winks – President, Mick McGuire – V President, and Life members Merv & Kev Kinnane, and Beres Mack. Since then Pete has filled the secretary and treasurer positions a number of times, one year as President, coached both junior and senior, male and female teams, and sold many raffle tickets at the Old Caledonian hotel in Bell st. Â
Peter was delighted to be made a life member of Hancock’s along with great mate Ash Dobbie.

Scouting
Pete’s other great interest has been scouting. Commencing as a Cub with B Pack Leichhardt Scout group in 1976 was where he started his scouting career. Pete was fortunate to have some fabulous Cub leaders, Del (Bachmann) and Shirley, along with adult supporters Marina & Maurie Hertrick and Lloyd Bachmann. He settled into Cubs enjoying the challenges of the bronze, silver and gold boomerang badges.Â
Reaching 11 years of age saw Pete linked into Scouts where he enjoyed the more adventurous activities such as camping, canoeing and hiking, and the new challenges of Scout badges Pioneer, Explorer and Adventurer, Achievement badges and cords. Again, fortunate to have a group of dedicated leaders over the years, including Jery Close, Mick Lock, Barry Lapworth, Adrian Broughton and Andy Brelsford. Pete made many friendships during his scouting career that continue to exist today, including Tony Brelsford, Peter Smith, Scott Cupitt and John Wellings, and Mark Wright, who unfortunately passed away recently.
Following on from Scouts he was linked up to Venturers, initially at the, now defunct, Outridge Unit on Denmark Hill, before returning to his beloved Leichhardt den, where a Venturer group had been established. It was in these years that, in conjunction with his unit members, Pete received the Queen Scout award. Pete’s commitment to community and public services was developed during his years with scouting.
As an adult, Pete became involved as the Moreton Region treasurer through the encouragement of the then Regional Commissioner, Ken Millers, and supported by Marilyn Andrews. He continued in this role for over 20 years, and was awarded the silver arrow for service to scouting. With his daughter commencing as a Joey within the Karalee Group, Pete became involved in the group committee for a few years including a stint as the Group Chairperson.
