My Vision for Ipswich
Finances
For Ipswich the upcoming 2024 council elections are significant. Despite ongoing development leading to more rateable properties, a staggering $480 million debt has led to an obvious decline in maintenance resulting in a visible impact on the city’s infrastructure.
When I am elected, I am committed to focus on effective financial management with the aim of alleviating the strain on your pocket amidst the city’s fiscal challenges.
One way to do that is to explore opportunities to grow external revenue sources. The aim will be to reduce debt, increase the pace of change and deliver some of the facilities that are needed across the city.
Community
As a candidate for the Mayoral position, I will respect the community’s decision as to who they want as councillors and will work to lead and develop a collorabative culture amongst the 8 councillors and the position of Mayor
I will be looking to encourage activities and enhance facilities that will encourage outside travellers to visit. For example the city’s neglected waterways can be managed in ways that can attract visitors to our lovely city. I would like to explore linking Ipswich’s heritage with modern Ipswich, this includes the use of technology to enhance the visitor experience.
This will be done in a way that takes into account the local community’s wishes and will be subject the availability of funding and/or collaborative opportunities.
